They were first called Christians in . . .
  •      Who we are

They were first called Christians in Antioch (Acts 11:26). Likewise, we are simply called Christians. We have been purchased by the precious blood of God's only begotten Son, Jesus the Christ.  We are pre-denominational Christians, meaning we are not associated with any denomination or group. Jesus Christ is our example of how to serve others. Praising and glorifying God in worship and in life is our primary objective because of the good news, the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16).

We believe that the bible is the inspired word of God, not on blind faith but on solid evidence. And that Jesus Christ is Savior, Lord and King who holds exclusive authority as the head of his spiritual body. There is no man or group who is authorized to legislate for his church. Without creed or hierarchy we are governed in faith and conduct by the bible alone.

The bible teaches that God the Father sent his only son to this earth for our salvation. This marvellous gift of salvation is for all who hear Christ's word, trust in him, repent of their sins, confess his name and are buried with him into his death by immersion into water. If we have been united with him in a death like his, for certain we will be united with him in a resurrection like his (Romans 6:3-5).

Our purpose together is to teach and encourage one another in the Christian life and to do the will of our Lord.

It is our desire and also our responsibility to spread the Good News of Christ as stated in Matthew 28:19-20:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  (ESV)

True Freedom is being free from  . . .
  •      Freedom & Security

True freedom is being free from that which enslaves you. Sadly, not everyone is searching for freedom. For those that are, Jesus teaches that you can be free (John 8:31-34). Knowing the truth, he said, is how one is set free. Knowing implies knowledge and understanding. Not our subjective knowledge, but objective knowledge - that which comes from outside of ourselves. We Christians in Honesdale don't claim to know all the answers, but we know where to go to find the answers (Ephesians 3:1-6). If you're searching for true freedom please call (570) 228-2033 or reach out to us today, at any time, for more information.

Jesus said, "If you love me, you will . . . "
  •      Spiritual growth

Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." As his child, God expects us to grow and come to  maturity. As his created beings he wants us to not only serve him, but to know him intimately. To know how much he loves us, and the marvellous things he accomplished on our behalf. He has made it possible for us to understand the things that at one time were mysteries (Eph 3:1-6). His revealed word, the bible, is the only source for spiritual growth.

We conduct bible study on Sunday mornings after our formal worship service, and an online interactive Wednesday evening bible class. At times we conduct specific topical studies on different days/evenings of the week. See Resources for Growth below for list of studies and tools. We also conduct individual or group studies at different times and in various public settings in the Honesdale area.

Worshiping our Creator is simple . . .
  •      How we worship God

Worshipping our Creator is simple. We believe it should be conducted in a manor in harmony with his wishes, not ours or another man's precepts. Studying God's word is where we find commandments and examples on how to present ourselves in acceptable worship.
